Easy Homemade Granola

If you love starting your day with a bowl of crunchy granola for breakfast, you will love this recipe. Making a homemade granola is very easy, basically you just need to mix the ingredients, spread on a baking tray and place in the oven for around half an hour and voila – you will have the most delicious, crunchy and healthy morning delight!

Homemade granola is not only easy and quick to make, also it’s fully customizable. You can use this recipe as a guide and change the ingredients to suit your preferences (and cravings) to make the ultimate personal granola recipe, combining your favourite flavours and textures. By making it from scratch you have a control over what is inside and make sure to use a good quality ingredients (if your budget allows try to use organic). Many store-bought granolas, even those the most expensive contain refined oils and sugar. This granola is naturally sweetened with maple syrup and dry apricots. You can easily adjust the sweetness level to you personal preferences. The same when it comes to spices, I have used cinnamon and cardamon, but ginger, ground vanilla or nutmeg would also work well. Just get creative or use whatever you have at hand. Another benefit of this recipe is that it stores well in a jar or air-tight container, you can make a bigger portion and store it for up to one month. A jar of granola also makes a wonderful edible gift!

Granola is not only great with a bowl milk or yoghurt, but also on top of a smoothie bowl or fresh fruits. On its own it makes a satisfying and healthy on the go snack. (What about to sprinkling it on the ice creams or pancakes ..? ). It should satisfy the most fussy eaters.

Easy Homemade Granola

This homemade granola is easy and quick to prepare. It's rich in fibre, antioxidants and good fat. It makes a perfect breakfast, but also a delicious snack on its own. Once you try you will walk away from any store-bought granolas, because this crunchy goodness one will just melt in your mouth.


  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 1/2 cup almond flakes
  • 1 1/2 cup coconut flakes (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cardamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 15 dry apricots, cut into strips
  • 1/3 cup raw cacao nibs



Preheat oven to 300F / 150C and line a large baking tray with a baking paper.


Melt coconut oil in a small pan. Add maple syrup and stir well.


In a large bowl mix together oats, almond flakes, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, cardamon and pinch of salt. Add maple syrup oil mixture and combine until all dry ingredients are nicely coated.


Spread evenly on a tray and bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 min or until lightly golden, stirring half-way through.


Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely. Once cooled stir in the apricots and cacao nibs.


Transfer to a jar and store for up to 1 month.
